Missing 411: National Parks (Kickstarter Active)
David Paulides has written twelve books about missing people in National parks, forests, and open spaces in sixteen countries. He has also produced three documentaries that went to #1 in the world, exposing the facts behind missing people:
Missing 41 1 | Missing 411: The Hunted | Missing 411: The UFO Connection
David’s organization has applied for multiple film permits inside our National parks, and each time, they were denied. In December 2024, a new law was signed stating that a film crew with five or fewer people does not need a permit to commercially film in a national park.
David and his team have filed multiple Freedom of Information Act requests for the files on missing people inside our National Park system. In 70% of all requests, these are denied, even in cases that are fifty years old. These incidents are not classified as crimes; they are merely classified as missing people. Why are these requests repeatedly denied?
David’s team filed a Freedom of Information Act request against the National Park Service for a list of all missing people in their system. They claimed they did not have such a list.

CanAm Missing Project
The CanAm Missing Project is a dedicated group of retired police officers, search and rescue (SAR) experts, and other professionals committed to researching, investigating, and understanding the complexities surrounding disappearances in the wilds of North America. Traditionally, SAR teams work intensely on these cases for the first 7-14 days after someone is reported missing. However, once initial efforts end, many of these cases are filed away, often without resolution. After reviewing thousands of SAR reports and speaking with countless victims’ families, we believe this approach needs a fundamental shift.
What began as a conversation with park rangers has evolved into a comprehensive study of missing persons in wilderness areas, often under highly unusual circumstances. In numerous cases we’ve researched, families believe abduction or kidnapping may be involved, though law enforcement and media rarely focus on this aspect when a case can be explained by more conventional means. However, the sheer volume of these cases and the patterns we’ve uncovered are too significant to ignore. Federal agencies hold critical data on these disappearances that needs closer scrutiny, and much of what we’ve learned has been documented in the “Missing 411” series. We encourage every SAR coordinator and manager to consider these findings for future search efforts.
